Pas Yisrael is an ancient decree enacted by Our Sages of blessed memory, requiring participation of a Yehudi in the baking of bread.

Cakes and biscuits are not included in this decree.

This decree is often confused with a similar decree of Bishul Akum which requires that a limited array of foods be cooked with participation of a Yehudi.
